Get Down to the Indie Sounds of Yo La Tango
Yo La Tengo have produced over a dozen albums since forming in the mid-‘80s. They've never gone away, putting out records that reflect a love for Top 40 joy and the harshness of noise. They don't have hits in the classic sense, just a major reputation and reverence for people who remember the college rock format. Last year's Stuff Like That There is a cover-heavy affair, for which the band does tunes ranging from Hank Williams Sr. to the Cure.
They remain one of the most reliable indie rock bands around, and don't sleep on a chance to see them. If you've seen them as a trio over the years, this time out is a little more special: Original guitarist Dave Schramm rejoined the band last year, along with original members Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley and longtime bassist James McNew, adding some extra oomph to the band's live sound. The show starts kind of early for a Friday, but if you're going to this, you know you don't want to miss a minute.
